Chapter 155 Historic Sites

It’s Johny’s first day home. Just before Johny went to bed, Richard made a smart remark to him. Johny got angry. Now that Johny had been on a mission, he had seen what other fathers were like toward their kids. Johny told Richard some of the things he had realized that weren’t right. Richard didn’t say anything back.

Just as I was about to go to bed, Richard asked me why I had not defended him. I reminded him of the time Sarah got upset. I had said something to her, he had told me, not to get involved. Besides, I was glad Johny had said what he had to him.

We have planned to visit Denmark with Johny in November. Johny is looking forward to showing me some of the places he saw while he was serving there. Hopefully it will go well.

While we were in Denmark, Johny showed me some historic sites I had never seen before.

We went and saw the Jelling Stone. It was erected around 965 AD by Viking King Harald Bluetooth.

I was so excited to finally see it and the historic church next to it.

We then went to the tip of Denmark and saw where the two oceans meet.

It’s where the North Sea and the Baltic Sea collide, separated by salinity. Creating visible waves that crash against each other.

It’s truly a spectacular natural phenomenon!

Some of my mom’s cousins live on an island called Bornholm. I had not seen them since I was a child.

We spent a week there. It’s almost like a different country.

While we were there, I wanted to find out what my mom was like as a child. What it was like growing up with her. They were so guest-free and nice to talk to. But I still don’t understand what has made my mom the way she is.

We visited a church near where my dad originally lived when I was a child. It was so strange to see it again!

After 3 weeks, Richard went back to America. Johny and I stayed for another 3 weeks.

Johny and I had planned to visit Germany. Johny was excited to drive on Germany’s Autobahn, where there is no speed limit.

We spent the night at my cousin’s. When we woke up, we were snowed in. After shoveling for a few hours, we were able to continue on our way.

It was scary, but we still went on the Autobahn and drove to Germany as planned.

I had invited Jared, his family, Laila, and her husband, Sarah, and her boyfriend over to celebrate Christmas with us. Sarah and her boyfriend couldn’t make it.

I was nervous about how this evening was going to go because Richard had told me that Jared and his wife were having a hard time with the way I am.

We all ended up having a nice evening together. After we had eaten, we made Danish Christmas stars.

It was so good to see everyone again! Especially my grandkids!
